Seneca Park Zoo IS The Natural Place for Families
The Seneca Park Zoo, one of Greater Rochester’s most popular family attractions, home to New York State’s only African elephants. While visiting them, keep an eye on their neighbors, a curious troop of olive baboons who are always exploring, as well as the Zoo’s newest animal stars, three African lions, as they roam their new state-of-the-art exhibit A Step Into Africa starting in May of 2012. This is the only exhibit in the United States focusing on the Nogorongoro Crater region of Tanzania, Africa. The exhibit treats you to a safari-in-your-backyard (right here in Rochester!) while you learn how humans and animals cohabitate in this unique conservation area.
Don’t forget to check out the Rocky Coasts, a must-see exhibit that is home to our polar bears and sea lions. Don’t miss your opportunity to crawl through a tunnel for an up-close-and-personal view of our beautiful cougar, or visit with New York State’s only Bornean orangutans and white rhinoceroses. Before you leave, remember to say hello to our mob of meerkats too!
The Zoo continues to be one of the leading attractions in this area. Improvements continue to enhance the Zoo experience. The dedicated keeper staff goes above and beyond the call of duty to enrich the lives of all the animals. Seneca Park Zoo is owned and operated by Monroe County. The Seneca Park Zoo Society is a not-for-profit organization, which since 1957, has provided education, fundraising, special events, admissions, marketing and public relations support to Monroe County’s Seneca Park Zoo.
